Dr. Leonor Corsino is currently an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition, and associate professor of population health sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, and her Endocrinology fellowship at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Corsino completed a Master of Health Science in clinical investigation at the Duke School of Medicine. She joined Duke as a faculty member in 2009 in a physician-scientist track. Dr. Corsino's research includes diverse research and methodologies, including basic science, clinical and translational research, and community engagement. Her research focused on diabetes and related conditions, Hispanic/Latino populations, implicit bias, and health disparities. In addition, in the last decade, Dr. Corsino also included research on mentoring and education in her scholarly efforts. Dr. Corsino has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles, edited one book, and co-authored five chapters. Dr. Corsino's collaborations included extensive collaborations at the national and international levels. Further, Dr. Corsino is a leader that holds and held several significant leadership roles at Duke, including her current role as Associate Dean for student affairs and her former roles as the Co-Director for the Duke CTSI- Community Engaged Research Initiative, Director of the Duke Population Mapping Project, Associate Director for the Duke School of Medicine Office of Faculty Mentoring training and Co-Director for the Duke REACH equity center Training and Education core among many other critical roles at her home institution.
