Explore Meetings on Steroid Hormones and Receptors, and AI in Healthcare
By Staff
What’s new? At many professional societies, the answer is “not much.” At our organization – we’re happy to note – the answer is TWO brand new meetings! This fall, members are invited to take in a pair of inaugural conferences offered by the Society: one on steroid hormones and receptors, and another on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.
Both are designed to appeal broadly to the diverse professional interests of our membership.
Check out these details:
The 1st International Conference on Steroid Hormones and Receptors (SHR 2024) will be held October 16-18, 2024, at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center, in Albuquerque, NM.
SHR 2024 is designed to explore state-of-the-art advances in steroid hormone and receptor functions, both rapid and genomic, in various aspects of biology and medicine, and in both normal physiology and pathophysiology.
Donald McDonnell , PhD, will lay the groundwork of the meeting with his keynote address, “Elucidation of the Mechanisms by Which Cells Recognize and Respond to Different Levels of Steroid Hormones to Elicit Different Biological Responses.”
Discussions from there will cover the gamut, from advances in steroid hormone action in biology and medicine, to their roles in biology, chemistry, pharmacology, oncology, neurology, metabolism, cardiovascular biology, and endocrinology. A focus on the effects of steroid hormone and receptor functions on various cancers.
In addition to education, the meeting provides our members with an opportunity to present their own research on these topics. Submit an abstract for presentation at SHR 2024 by September 1.
We’re proud and excited to host SHR 2024. But as with other smart organizations, we didn’t create this meeting from scratch.
SHR 2024 builds on a 25-year legacy of successful conferences hosted by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), and the International Committee on Rapid Responses to Steroid Hormones (RRSH). A joint FASEB-RRSH conference held in 2021, for instance, recognized the evolution of the field where physiological and cellular effects of steroid hormones are frequently the result of the combined effects of rapid and genomic signaling.
The meeting also features experts with a long affiliation to the Society. SHR 2024 will be chaired by Eric Prossnitz (University of New Mexico) and Endocrine Society President-Elect Carol Lange (University of Minnesota) with assistance from organizing committee members, Matthias Barton, MD; Brian Harvey, PhD; JES Editor-in-Chief Zeynep Madak-Erdogan, PhD; and Kimberly Leslie, MD.
Attendees will include leading scientists, researchers, physicians, post-doctoral trainees, and students working in various disciplines of steroid hormone and receptor biology and medicine.
If this is your area of focus, SHR 2024 is a must-attend event.
Another must-attend event for all members is our first Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare Virtual Summit, to be held November 8-9.
This meeting is designed for healthcare providers, professionals, researchers, technologists, industry stakeholders, and educators. The summit will explore the transformative potential of AI to revolutionize patient care and shape the future of medicine.
We’re proud to have some of the top experts in this field lead the discussions.
Our keynote speaker is Evan D. Muse, MD, PhD, MCTI, of the Scripps Research Translational Institute. Dr. Muse is a preventive cardiologist dedicated to reducing the health burdens associated with heart disease. He’s also one of the leading authorities on how AI can be successfully incorporated into healthcare. Reflecting the global reach of this topic, our faculty include experts from the U.S. and Europe, and potentially other countries around the globe.
All will provide insights on the use of AI for such things as: diagnosis and predictions through analysis of medical images; drug discovery and development through the identification and acceleration of potential drug candidates; and adapting natural language processing (NLP) to support clinical decisions by analyzing data from sources such as electronic health records, medical notes, and research papers.
AI has arrived and will and forever change how we go about our work in many realms of society. This meeting will allow you to understand and tap into its potential to improve healthcare and medical research.
Take advantage of Early Registration Rates and secure your spot for this meeting by August 31.
These two exciting new meetings are just the latest answer to that eternal question: what’s new?
At the same time, we never lose sight of our existing offerings that members have come to rely on over the years. We’re proud of our recently concluded ENDO 2024 in Boston. And we’re excited for our upcoming fall meetings: Endocrine Board Review (EBR) 2024, September 6-8, and Clinical Endocrinology Update (CEU) 2024, September 19-21. Both of these meetings will be held virtually.
Tried-and-true and brand new—at the Society, we continually strive to innovate and provide offerings that best meet the needs of you, our members.
