Dr. Serena Cardillo is a Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism in the Perelman School of Medicine at The University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed her training in internal medicine and endocrinology. Dr. Cardillo’s clinical practice is based at the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center where she serves as the Director of Graduate Diabetes Education. Her clinical interests are in type 1 and type 2 diabetes, cystic fibrosis related diabetes and post-transplant diabetes. She is also an Associate Program Director and Core Faculty Member in Endocrinology for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
Her interests in graduate medical education are in ambulatory subspecialty education and the use of simulation to assess and teach communication skills. At the postgraduate level she has led several innovative national education programs in the area of diabetes management for primary care providers. Her work has been recognized in institutional teaching awards and selection as a Philadelphia Magazine Top Doctor Award in 2018.
