Maria Fleseriu, MD, FACE is a Professor of Medicine and Neurological Surgery, Director of the Pituitary Center at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon, USA and Program Director for the Pituitary Disease fellowship.
She has been the Chair of the Clinical Guidelines Committee of the Endocrine Society and the Chair of the Task Force and first author of the Clinical Guideline: “Hormonal Replacement in Hypopituitarism in Adults: An Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline”; she has served in several other Committees and Task forces for the Endocrine Society, Pituitary Society and European Society of Endocrinology. Dr. Fleseriu has a long-standing clinical and research interest in the pathophysiology and treatment of pituitary and adrenal disorders and has co-chaired international consensus guidelines for Cushing’s disease and acromegaly. She has received several awards, including title of “Doctor Honors Causa” by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” and the U.K Clinical Endocrinology Trust Award from the Society of Endocrinology. She is a frequent plenary guest speaker at national and international meetings. Dr Fleseriu is the Past President of the Pituitary Society and in the Pituitary Society Board of Directors, the Deputy Editor for European Journal of Endocrinology, Associate Editor for Reviews of Endocrinology and Metabolism and a member in many editorial boards, including Pituitary. Dr. Fleseriu has been global principal investigator in many pituitary disorders clinical trials and has authored over 200 manuscripts in prestigious journals, including novel treatments, international guidelines and consensus papers for Cushing’s, acromegaly and hypopituitarism and 40 book chapters.
