Ricardo Azziz, MD, MPH, MBA is Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Medicine, and Healthcare Organization & Policy, Schools of Medicine and Public Health, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Research Professor, Health Policy, Management, and Behavior, School of Public Health, University at Albany, SUNY. He also serves as Fellow of the Rockefeller Institute of Government; and as principal of Tellurian Global and of the SPH Consulting Group. He completed his medical studies at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital, his reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and additional degrees at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Azziz’s research focuses on the study of androgen excess disorders in women, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. He also studies change management and leadership development in higher education. He has published over 300 original peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters and reviews, and eleven books. He has received, among other recognitions, the 2000 President's Achievement Award of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation; elected member of the Association of American Physicians; recipient of the 2014 Alumni Fellow Award of the Pennsylvania State University Alumni Association; the Health Award from the New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators; and the UAB Excellence in Business Top 25 award.

Dr. Azziz previously served as EVP, Operations, Strategy and Scientific Affairs and Chief Science & Strategy Officer at The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center; as CEO of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine; as Deputy Director, Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute and Assistant Dean, Clinical and Translational Sciences at UCLA; as Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director, Center for Androgen-Related Disorders, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles; as Vice-Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA; and as founder and Executive Director/Senior Executive Director, Androgen Excess & PCOS Society.  Among his many executive positions, Dr. Azziz has served as Chief Officer, Academic Health & Hospital Affairs, and Director of the SUNY Hispanic Leadership Institute, the State University of New York (SUNY), the largest university system in the nation; founding president of Georgia Regents University (now renamed Augusta University); and president of Georgia Health Sciences University. He also served as founding CEO of the Georgia Regents Health System, the state’s only public academic health center; and CEO, the Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospitals. Among other advisory capacities, he has served on multiple NIH committees, chaired the U.S. FDA Advisory Board on Reproductive Health Drugs, and served on the oversight committee for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine.
