Frequently Asked Questions

Why is ENDO 2020 canceled?

We have been closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as state and local governments. We have also been actively following travel advisories and restrictions being placed on hospitals and institutions. The health, safety, and well-being of our members, staff, exhibitors, faculty, patients and other stakeholders is of paramount importance. With an ever-increasing number of our members on the front lines of preparing and reacting to the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, it is in the best interest of everyone to cancel the meeting.

Are all ancillary events associated with ENDO 2020 canceled as well?
All ancillary events, including independent certified sessions and non-certified prime-time exhibitor events, run by the Endocrine Society, exhibitors, nonprofits, universities, and others are canceled in San Francisco. Look for further details in the coming days regarding rescheduling or alternative options.

Will ENDO 2020 be postponed until a later date or rescheduled?
Meetings the size of ENDO 2020 are planned years in advance, with hundreds of faculty members involved in planning sessions and science, as well as careful coordination with cities large enough to accommodate thousands of people at once. As such, rescheduling is not an option.

However, while we might not be able to meet live and in person, we are committed to bringing the education and science directly to our members. Look for more details soon on our virtual plans for delivering elements of the ENDO 2020 program.

How will we handle registration refunds?
Thank you to all registrants who visited our site and chose to donate their registration, defer their registration until 2021, or receive a refund. If you did not inform us of your choice by April 30, you will receive a refund of your registration fees. All product purchases (Meet the Professor, ESAP 2020, Pediatric ESAP 2019/2020) will be shipped free of charge and the payment(s) for those products will be deducted from the refund.

I paid for the premium registration package, will I still receive my Meet-the-Professor book?
If you purchased the premium registration package or ad-hoc through the registration process, your Meet-the-Professor book will be shipped to you directly at no additional charge within one month.

I pre-ordered the ESAP 2020 and/or Pediatric ESAP 2019-2020 book with my registration. How will I receive it?
If you purchased the ESAP 2020 book when registering for ENDO 2020, the book will be shipped to you directly at no additional charge within one month.

Am I still entitled to my ENDO travel award?
Award winners will still receive their certificate of acknowledgement, however, compensation for travel will not be provided.

Will attendees be refunded for hotel costs?
No, we will not refund hotel costs. Attendees who booked with the official housing block with OnPeak will have their reservation automatically canceled and their deposit refunded. Will attendees be refunded for airline tickets?
No, we will not refund individual airline ticket costs. Please contact your airline directly regarding ticket cancellations. If you purchased travel insurance, please contact your provider for information and next steps.

Will any sessions be made available virtually?
We are working hard on virtual options that will allow for dissemination of the critical science and education that you expect from ENDO. We will be in contact with presenters with more information in the coming days. Stay tuned for more information. Updates will be posted to endocrine.org/ENDO2020.

What happens if I submitted an abstract?
All accepted abstracts will be published in the April-May supplemental issue of the Journal of the Endocrine Society (JES). The embargo will lift when the supplemental issue is published. All primary authors were emailed on March 10, 2020 with the option to withdraw their abstract or have it published in JES. Decisions to withdraw an abstract had to made by March 18. All published abstracts are eligible for inclusion on your CV. Sample Citation: [Authors]. [Abstract Title]. Journal of the Endocrine Society, Volume 4, Issue Supplement_1, April-May 2020

I was going to present in a session at the meeting, can I still cite the conference in my CV?
Yes. While this year’s conference will not occur, you are still able to cite the conference in your CV.

Sample Citation: [Presenter]. (2020, March 28–31). [Presentation Title]. Endocrine Society’s Annual Meeting, San Francisco, CA, United States. (Conference canceled)
